MyStep: Creating sustainable energy through mycelium floor tiles

MyStep is a low-cost, scaleable approach for community-based micro-energy generation. Our project embeds piezoelectric sensors inside mycelium bricks to harvest the kinetic energy produced from footsteps. These “tiles” can be grown and shaped to fit any high foot-traffic areas, allowing communities to share, donate, or sell the energy they produce while participating in local events. By integrating electronics with organic materials, MyStep envisions a future where hybrid biotechnologies address the energy crisis through sustainable, community-driven interventions.
